'Waitress' is casting for a little Philly 'Lulu'

YouTube isn’t the only place for precocious young talent to break through. On Thursday, aspiring child actresses are invited to audition to play Lulu in the Philadelphia production next month of the national touring musical Waitress.

It’s a plum role, as the daughter to Jenna, the pie-baking waitress in Waitress. Two Lulus will be chosen. They will appear in four shows apiece during the production’s six-day run at the Forrest Theatre Feb. 13-18.

Auditioning girls will be asked to speak Lulu’s two lines from the show. (It’s not a heavy lift. One line is “Hi, mama.”) No professional experience is necessary, but parents are asked to bring along a head shot and a resume if their daughter has those.

Lulu hopefuls should be shorter than 4’2” and no older than 5 years and 3 months. Individual applicants are welcome, as are sets of twins or siblings.

Auditions are being held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday at the SEI Innovation Studio inside the Kimmel Center. Space is limited to the first 40 applicants to sign up at signupgenius.com/go/60B0F4AA5AD23AAF94-waitress.
